Staatsburgh State Historic Site will host a free series of three outdoor concerts this summer on the grand portico of the mansion. Sponsored by The Friends of Mills at Staatsburgh, the “Music on the Portico” series features one-hour performances beginning at 4:00 p.m.
The concert schedule includes the Bennett Harris Ragtime Blues Acoustic Guitar Duo on June 27, with a rain date of June 28. The Hyde Park Chamber Ensemble’s Woodwind Quintet will perform patriotic music on July 18, and international chanteuse Elaine Rachlin will perform a repertoire of European and French songs on August 8, with a rain date of August 9. There is no rain date for the July performance.
Seating on the portico is accessible and available on a first-come basis. Visitors are also welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating on the grounds, and no reservations are required for the concerts. Attendees can check social media or call 845-889-8851 for weather cancellations.
The historic site and the surrounding Ogden Mills & Ruth Livingston Mills Memorial State Park offer scenic views of the Hudson River, walking paths, woodland trails, and a gift shop. The 79-room Gilded Age mansion retains its original furnishings and opulent décor.
Guided mansion tours are available Thursdays through Sundays by advance reservation. Visitors can book tours online through Bookeo, with admission fees charged upon arrival.
The estate is located on Old Post Road in the hamlet of Staatsburg, off Route 9 between Rhinebeck and Hyde Park. The site is administered by the Taconic Region of New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
