Tarrytown Music Hall will host a special screening of “Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul” on September 25. The presentation features an exclusive post-show question-and-answer session with Michael Lehman, lead producer of the film and longtime manager of the late musician.
The event forms part of a nationwide tour delivering the feature documentary to theaters, performing arts centers, and music halls equipped with high-fidelity sound systems. Organizers structured the roadshow to run from September 1 through December 8, 2027, marking what would have been Allman’s 80th birthday.
Directed by James Keach, the film chronicles the personal life and creative journey of the Allman Brothers Band frontman. The narrative traces his early years following his father’s murder, his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, and the death of his brother and bandmate, Duane Allman.
In addition to rare concert performances and personal interviews, the documentary details how the group challenged racial divisions in the American South by collaborating with Black musicians and embracing Black musical traditions. The film also examines Allman’s high-profile marriage to Cher and his navigation of public fame.
Every ticket purchased during the roadshow series contributes two dollars to charitable causes. Proceeds directly benefit local organizations that support live music or the Gregg Allman Scholarship Funds established at Syracuse University, Belmont University, and the University of Georgia.
