Step into a unforgettable autumn on the Hudson River with the Bannerman Castle Trust’s September 2026 lineup of events. Departing aboard the Estuary Steward from the Beacon waterfront, visitors can explore the legendary castle ruins, historic residence museum, and late-summer gardens on guided or self-guided tours. This September, the island comes alive with an extraordinary slate of programming—including the annual Farm-to-Table fundraising dinner, an open-air movie night, live theater under the stars, intimate musical performances, and fine art exhibitions back on the mainland.
September 2026 – Visit Bannerman Island!
Book a tour in September to Bannerman Island & Castle in the Hudson River Highlands! The Estuary Steward tour boat accommodates 44 passengers per tour, and departs from the Beacon waterfront dock directly across from the Metro-North Train Station at 2 Red Flynn Drive in Beacon, NY (from May-October). Enjoy a guided, or self-guided tour of Bannerman Island. Visit the historic Bannerman Castle ruins and gardens and explore the original Bannerman residence, now a museum! Saturday, September 5th – Annual Farm to Table Dinner on Bannerman Island
Chef Scout Metzler and his team of chefs return to Bannerman Island for this highly anticipated dinner which includes a delectable five-course meal and serves as a fundraiser for Bannerman Island restoration projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the island during the peak late Summer Garden bloom and witness the progress the BCT has made on the island’s trails and structures. This culinary event includes a boat ride on the RV Estuary Steward from the Beacon, NY dock through the Hudson Highlands to Bannerman Island and back, as well as a guided tour of the island and an incredible dinner experience you will never forget! The dinner also includes a night of music performed by the Storm King Duo. The tour boat boards from the dock located directly across from the Beacon, NY Train Station at 2 Red Flynn Drive. September 16-27- Dracula: The Journal of Jonathan Harker Live Theater on Bannerman Island!
“DRAC IS BACK” ON BANNERMAN ISLAND AND BETTER THAN EVER IN AN INCREDIBLE ADAPTATION OF THE DRACULA STORY BY JIM HELSINGER. “the very essence of theatre… don’t miss it.” – The Bethlehem Press (PA). Sent to Castle Dracula to deliver deeds to the infamous Count, Jonathan Harker has no idea what he’s getting himself into! Starring Duane Boutté (Sex and the City, Alabama Shakespeare, Lincoln Center) and directed by Christian Conn (Asolo Rep, Guthrie Theatre). Jonathan finds himself held captive by the cryptic Count – discovering horrific sights behind some of the castle’s closed doors. Only after he escapes does he realize that Count Dracula is an undead creature of the night. With the help of Van Helsing and other friends, Jonathan sets off on a mission to find and destroy the Count before he becomes more powerful than ever, risking his life to save the lives of those he loves. The show is magnificently performed directly in front of The Bannerman stone residence (smaller castle) on Bannerman) Island.
Sunday, Sept. 20th – Bannerman Castle Trust’s Third Sunday Music Concert Series
Guitarist, Jeffrey Kirn – Ambient Guitarist featuring original compositions! Jeff’s music will enchant you as you tour the island’s magnificent trails or sit and enjoy the concert on the Bannerman Island stage. Concert takes place during the 11:00am and 12:30pm tours only.
September Art Exhibitions – Bannerman Island Gallery, 150 Main St., Beacon, NY
Main Gallery Exhibition– The Bannerman Castle Trust’s history exhibition continues. The show features changing artwork, photographs and artifacts from the Bannerman Family Collection, and focuses on BCT’s development since 1994. Works by contemporary artists featuring the island and the Hudson River are also on view, and for sale. West Wall Exhibition – Virginia Donovan (Paintings) and Mary Ann Glass (Photo-Mixed Media). All art sales support preservation projects on Bannerman Island. Gallery Hours: Sat. & Sun. 12:00 – 5:00pm, weekdays by chance & appointment. 845-831-1001.
