Catskills-based artist Keenan O’Meara has released his new single, “Halley’s Comet,” ahead of his upcoming debut album, Bathe in the Everlasting Light. The album is scheduled for release on June 26 through Belting Bronco Records.
O’Meara, who is originally from Baltimore, now lives and writes music roughly 100 miles north of New York City, in the area between the Hudson Valley and the east branch of the Delaware River. The 12-track record was recorded in a studio O’Meara built inside his home and features a largely acoustic, intimate sound.
The new album includes contributions from a network of fellow local and regional musicians, including Sufjan Stevens, Hannah Cohen, Sam Evian, and Meg Lui. Most of the tracks on the record developed out of a collaborative songwriting group where the participants challenged each other to write one song per day after finishing their regular work shifts.
The material on the upcoming record explores themes of life and death, reflecting a period of transition for the artist. Prior to focusing on music full-time, O’Meara spent his days working on construction job sites and writing songs in his spare time.
The release of the single coincides with a major career shift for the local songwriter. Country star Zach Bryan discovered O’Meara’s older music via social media, eventually offering to press his past records and inviting him to open for major stadium shows. O’Meara also contributed acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals to Bryan’s 2026 album and is currently performing as the opening act on Bryan’s European stadium tour dates.
In addition to “Halley’s Comet,” the tracklist for Bathe in the Everlasting Light includes songs such as “Walk Beside Me,” “When I Sleep,” “Mercy,” “Mourning Doves,” and “Please Leave The Light On.”
