Hudson River Music Festival to host climate change panel featuring environmental leaders

Climate Change Panel at Hudson River festival in June 2026

The Hudson River Music Festival has announced a featured climate change panel, “Climate Change: Science, Policy, Action,” to be held during the festival on Sunday, June 21.

The panel will begin at 2 p.m. on the North Star Stage with opening remarks from festival headliner Grahame Lesh. The discussion aims to connect music and community with environmental advocacy, echoing the spirit of Pete and Toshi Seeger’s folk picnics.

The lineup of experts includes:

  • Jen Benson, director of advocacy and communications for Hudson River Sloop Clearwater.
  • Lauren Sutherlin, director of strategic communications at Rainforest Action Network.
  • Vanessa Fajans-Turner, executive director of Environmental Advocates NY.
  • Korey G. Silverman-Roati, senior fellow at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law, Columbia Law School.
  • Maya Kalender, a rising freshman at Columbia University and recipient of the “Spirit of the Hudson” Next Generation Environmental Leader Award.
  • Meghan Ryan, director of natural climate solutions strategy at the National Audubon Society.

Jason Grauer, executive director of Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, will serve as emcee. The discussion will be moderated by Joe DiMona, a consultant for the Model Climate Laws Initiative.

Topics will range from New York state and federal climate policy to regenerative agriculture, youth leadership, and nature-based conservation. The festival, held at Croton Point Park, is committed to sustainability and a “Zero Waste” future, encouraging attendees to reduce their environmental impact.

Headliner Grahame Lesh is a founding member of Midnight North and a frequent performer with Phil Lesh & Friends. His most recent studio album, Diamonds in the Zodiac, was released in 2023.

The climate panel is free for all festival ticket holders. Tickets for the all-ages event are available through the festival’s website.
