The Bannerman Castle Trust has released its June 2026 calendar of events, featuring historic tours, a classic film screening, and live music on Bannerman Island in the Hudson River Highlands.
Throughout the month, the Estuary Steward tour boat will depart from the Beacon Waterfront Dock at 2 Red Flynn Drive. The 44-passenger vessel provides access to the island for both guided and self-guided walking tours. Visitors can explore the ruins of the historic Bannerman Castle, its surrounding gardens, and the original Bannerman residence, which has been converted into a museum.
Public tours and events are held Wednesday through Sunday, with private charters available by appointment.
Special programming for June includes:
- Bannerman Island Movie Night (June 5): A sunset cruise and tour will be followed by a screening of the 1969 Western classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
- Third Sunday Music Concert Series (June 21): Folk and Americana artist Bryan Scar will perform a blend of original and roots music. The performance is free for visitors taking the 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. tours.
In addition to island activities, the Bannerman Island Gallery at 150 Main St. in Beacon will host several exhibitions. The Main Gallery features the ongoing “Bannerman Castle Trust’s History Exhibition,” showcasing photographs and artifacts from the Bannerman Family Collection alongside contemporary Hudson Valley artwork.
The gallery’s West Wall features a collaborative exhibition of paintings by Virginia Donovan and photo-mixed media by Mary Ann Glass. Proceeds from art sales support ongoing preservation projects on the island. The gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5:00 p.m.
