Safe Harbors of the Hudson launches new radio station in downtown Newburgh

Safe Harbors of the Hudson has launched Safe Harbors Radio, a new streaming and terrestrial radio station. The station broadcasts from a storefront recording studio on Broadway in downtown Newburgh. This new platform expands upon the nonprofit organization’s focus on housing and the arts.

The initial programming lineup features a monthly roster of pre-recorded programs that repeat daily. The station plans to iteratively expand its schedule to include live broadcasts and a wider spectrum of offerings over the coming months. Listeners can access the station terrestrially at 102.1 FM within the Safe Harbors campus, online via continuous stream or on-demand at SafeHarborsRadio.org, or through the Wave Farm Radio app.

The talk and interview programs are produced by Safe Harbors alongside various community partners. Executive Director Lisa Silverstone and Ken Martinez, Director of Performing Arts and Community Programming, co-host the Safe Harbors Radio Hour to interview local artists and community figures. Other talk shows include Library Director Ben Gocker hosting In the Stacks with the Newburgh Free Library, Matt Mottel hosting Human Reality, and poet Daniel Villegas alongside DJ H20 hosting Let’s Kick it Radio.

The musical programming is hosted by local DJs and features a wide variety of genres. Angel Lau hosts From Lima to Newburgh, focusing on Afro-Peruvian music, jazz, electronic sounds, and heavy percussion. Additional music programs include Kongo Spices featuring Congolese artists, Sael Varela’s experimental improvisation show ¡Vael Sarela ningún guerra jam sesh!, and Mottel’s Signals from 12550, which showcases local bands found on Bandcamp.

This station follows an initial audio pilot program launched by the organization in 2025. That pilot consisted of a four-episode, limited-series podcast titled This is Safe Harbors, which documented the history of the nonprofit’s primary program areas. The podcast series concluded its run in spring 2026 and accumulated more than 400 listeners across 10 countries.
