The Army West Point Athletic Association and financial services provider USAA have announced an expanded, long-term partnership agreement. The comprehensive contract will provide strategic support and funding across all 30 varsity sports programs at the academy. The resources are designated to assist the department’s more than 1,200 cadet-athletes navigating changes within the collegiate sports landscape.
Under the terms of the new agreement, USAA branding will be integrated onto uniform patches for all varsity athletic programs. The company logo will also be added to the 25-yard lines on the playing surface inside Michie Stadium. Additionally, the historic venue will adopt the official designation of Michie Stadium Preserved by USAA, though Blaik Field will retain its traditional name to continue honoring former coach Earl “Red” Blaik.
The financial commitment from the provider will serve as a catalyst for future facility enhancements on campus. This includes funding for the future construction of the Athletic Center for Excellence, a next-generation facility focused on leadership development, recruiting, and athletic performance. The agreement was negotiated in collaboration with Learfield’s Army West Point Sports Properties.
The venue partnership coincides with the ongoing Michie Stadium Preservation Project, which originally opened in 1924. The stadium construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2026. The completed project will introduce upgraded infrastructure, premium seating options, enhanced fan amenities, expanded seating sections for cadets, and a revitalized Army Athletics Hall of Fame.
Army Director of Athletics Tom Theodorakis stated that the department evaluated the agreement alongside key stakeholders, including coaches, alumni, and board members. Theodorakis noted that the partnership allows the institution to secure innovative revenue streams while preserving the historical legacies of Dennis Michie and Coach Blaik.
