Historic Hudson Valley has announced the return of the Summer Saturdays series at Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow. The weekly family-friendly events will run on Saturdays from July 11 through September 5, operating from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The programming connects regional colonial history with hands-on learning through themed activities, art projects, and self-guided tours of the National Historic Landmark.
Each Saturday features a distinct theme, starting with the wheat harvest at the Barnyard Bash on July 11, followed by Fabric & Fashion on July 18, and Hive & Honey on July 25. August events include Wonderful Waterways on August 1, Clay & Creation on August 8, and The Big Play Date on August 15. The series concludes with Seeds & Sprouts on August 22, Preserves & Pickles on August 29, and Global Grains on September 5.
The organization is also hosting several other seasonal experiences across its properties. Enchanted Evenings at Philipsburg Manor will feature a soul dance celebration on June 26, storytelling on July 11, and magic on July 18. Additionally, the Revolutionary Tea Party will take place in the manor greenhouse from July 3 to July 5, offering period-inspired blends and light bites.
Other historic sites are hosting specialized performances and tours. An Audience with Poe runs on select dates through June 27 at the Historic Hudson Valley Library, featuring live theatrical retellings of classic tales. At Washington Irving’s Sunnyside estate in Irvington, the outdoor theater experience Rip Van Winkle’s Journey is scheduled for select dates through July 26.
Regular historic tours are also available at multiple properties throughout the season. Philipsburg Manor, which focuses on the history of northern slavery and the 23 enslaved individuals who lived and labored there in 1750, is open for tours Friday through Sunday. Washington Irving’s Sunnyside and the Union Church of Pocantico Hills are also open for public tours on designated days.
Capacity is limited for all experiences, and advance online ticket purchases are recommended. Tickets are free for Historic Hudson Valley members, and attendees must be 21 or older with valid identification to purchase or consume alcohol. Tickets and scheduling details can be accessed on the official Historic Hudson Valley website.
