The Howland Cultural Center and the Bannerman Castle Trust will host a community tea party and fine art exhibition on Saturday, March 14, celebrating the Hudson River and the artists who capture its landscapes.
The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Howland Cultural Center, 477 Main St., in Beacon, immediately following the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade of Green.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view the “Bannerman Island and the Mighty Hudson River Exhibition,” a collection of artwork inspired by the Hudson River Valley and Bannerman Island. The exhibition features works by more than 50 artists, including paintings, watercolors, drawings, pastels, photography, and mixed media pieces.
Many participating artists will attend the event for a meet-and-greet with visitors.
The community tea party will include tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and St. Patrick’s Day-themed treats. Live music will also be featured, with Celtic selections performed by pianist Thom McCoy and friends.
All artwork will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting both the Howland Cultural Center and the Bannerman Castle Trust. The organizations are nonprofit groups that provide arts and cultural programming for children, teens, and adults in the Hudson Valley.
Organizers say the exhibition offers an opportunity for visitors to explore the region’s artistic interpretations of the Hudson River and its historic landmarks while supporting two community-focused cultural institutions.
