Safe Harbors of the Hudson Unveils 25th Anniversary summer lineup
Season to feature art, pride celebration, outdoor movies, and more

Safe Harbors of the Hudson, a Newburgh-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming lives and building community through housing and the arts, has announced its summer season of programming. The calendar of events features a robust range of art, music, dance, film, and community events, including the second annual Pride on the Green; Ritz Kidz Circus, a free two-week program where local youth work with professional circus coaches to learn new skills and create their own original show; and the season finale of StoryCON, Safe Harbors’ new monthly storytelling series.
Lisa Silverstone, Executive Director of Safe Harbors, shared “As we celebrate 25 years of Safe Harbors’ impact in Newburgh, we are proud to present this thrilling slate of events and programs that showcase the rich talent of our city and the Hudson Valley. We look forward to welcoming neighbors and visitors from near and far to join us this summer!”
Located at the heart of downtown Newburgh, Safe Harbors’ summer programming will take place across its campus: many events will take place on Safe Harbors Green, a half-acre urban park at the corner of Broadway and Liberty Street; around the corner, Safe Harbors’ Ann Street Gallery (104 Ann Street), will present its annual summer exhibition featuring work by regional and nationally-renowned artists; and Safe Harbors’ Lobby at the Ritz (107 Broadway) will host the June editions of its In Frame Film Series and StoryCON, before both events move to the Green in July.
Schedule of events
All events are free unless otherwise noted. More details can be found at www.safe-harbors.org.
etheReality: from breath to air, and back
Ann Street Gallery Summer Exhibition
Saturdays & Sundays, June 21 – August 31 from 1-5pm
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 28 from 5-7pm
Ann Street Gallery
etheReality is a group exhibition of works across various media that consider the cyclical, interconnected and often intangible relationship between individuals and the collective. The show attempts to locate our contemporary human reality in the murky, haunted spaces between our cumulative acts of destruction and the shared sense of grief that follows, while offering glimpses of inspiration in shared connection to each other and the natural world. How is breath tied to time and place? How do our small, everyday actions shape a vast cosmic phenomenon that echoes through the ether and implicates us in its return?
Safe Harbors’ Ann Street Gallery programming is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and with funding from the Cowles Charitable Trust, Dominican Sisters of Hope, M&T Charitable Foundation, and TD Charitable Foundation.
