Francis Ford Coppola

Legendary director, Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Outsiders) is bringing his monumental 2024 film, MEGALOPOLIS, to select cities across the country. This exclusive event offers a rare chance to experience the film as it was meant to be seen—on the big screen, surrounded by a live audience. Following the screening, Coppola will lead an interactive conversation about the future of humanity, along with a live audience Q&A. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to see MEGALOPOLIS —not currently available on streaming—and engage with the iconic director live.

Megalopolis

Set in the futuristic city of New Rome, Megalopolis originally captivated audiences with its masterful filmmaking, becoming one of Francis Ford Coppola’s most widely discussed films. Architect and dreamer Cesar Catilina seeks a utopian future, while Mayor Franklyn Cicero fights to preserve the status quo—rife with greed and political warfare. Caught between these powerful forces is Julia Cicero, the mayor’s daughter, whose romance with Cesar tests her loyalty and compels her to redefine her beliefs about what humanity truly deserves. The film, which features an all-star cast including Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, and Aubrey Plaza, made its world premiere last year to a 10-minute standing ovation at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and was released theatrically and in IMAX globally on September 27, 2024.

The September Shows

Featuring members of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Wilco, Guster, Bonnylight Horseman, Fruit Bats, Hiss Golden Messenger, and many more.

The idea of The September Shows is born of the history and friendship that many of these Artists share. In 2012 most of them came together to perform the inaugural The Complete Last Waltz. A song for song re-imagination of the legendary Band concert they performed at The Warfield Theater. That tradition continued for years at The Capitol Theatre until 2020. Missing the community and performance that had become akin to a musical family reunion, we decided to rekindle the spirit. With their own music.

Experience a format more like the “Last Waltz” than anything. In that the house band will be constant, the featured Artists will come and go as they did in The Last Waltz.

All Artists

Ryan Miller, Madi Diaz, Joe Russo, Anais Mitchell, Eric D Johnson, MC Taylor, Cass McCombs, Phil Cook, Nels Cline, Rett Madison, Stuart Bogie, Josh Kaufman, Sammy Rae & Will Leet, Robert Ellis, Scott Metzger, JT Bates, Cameron Ralston, Chris Braun, Kendall Robbins, Sam Cohen, Jordan McLean, Keenan O’Meara, Matt Buechele

Violent Femmes

Violent Femmes formed in 1981 as an acoustic punk band playing on the streets of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their main influences at that time were Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps and The Velvet Underground. Their goal was to rock harder than any other acoustic act on the planet.

After being rejected for an audition by a local nightclub, the Femmes set up outside a Pretenders gig and began to play. Pretenders’ lead singer Chrissie Hynde asked them to open that night’s show, which gave the young band a publicity boost and caught the attention of Richard Hell, who invited the Femmes to open for him in NYC. A rave review in the New York Times eventually led to a record deal, which in turn spawned worldwide touring.

Violent Femmes eponymous debut album became the first and only album in Billboard history to enter the charts with a platinum certification – eight years after its release. Over the ensuing three decades, the Femmes became a mainstay of festivals, clubs, an d theaters in more than 20 countries worldwide.

MTV’s “Unplugged” show was inspired by the Femmes, although they never actually appeared on it. Their raw sound and honest lyrical perspective has been cited as an influence by artists as diverse as Pink, Keith Urban, The Smiths, The Pixies, John Cusack, M ark Morris, and Wim Wenders.

More than 40 years into their careers, Violent Femmes continue to attract young audiences on tour , create lasting music, and inspire people of all ages.
