Lovely Calamity Productions will present a theatrical double bill featuring mystery and supernatural themes at the Howland Cultural Center in Beacon. The performances are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. at 477 Main Street.

The first act features Trifles, a mystery play written by Susan Glaspell. The story focuses on two women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, who investigate the details surrounding the death of a local farmer while search teams look through his farmhouse.

The second act presents The Signal-Man, a Gothic supernatural story adapted for the stage by Hudson Valley playwright Cristina Noelle from a short story by Charles Dickens. Set in a railway cutting, the play follows a lone signalman who encounters a recurring phantom warning of impending disaster.

General admission tickets are priced at $30 per person. Attendees can purchase tickets and view additional event information through the Howland Cultural Center website.

The Howland Cultural Center serves as the host venue for the limited weekend production. Lovely Calamity Productions created the two-part presentation for its October run in Dutchess County.
