The New York-based alt-punk trio For Lack of a Term will perform at Simple Motive Brewing Co. (222 Lake Ave Suite 1B, Yonkers, NY 10701) on April 11, marking a hometown-area appearance just one day before the release of the band’s latest project.
The performance is part of a three-city New York tour alongside pop-punk band Ghost Tour. The tour serves as the primary promotional run for the trio’s new EP, “Not Quite You,” which officially arrives on streaming platforms April 12.
The five-track EP, produced independently with collaborator Sam Stauff, explores the emotional trajectory of a failing relationship. The band describes the project as a conceptual journey through the five stages of grief, centered on the clarity that follows a toxic separation.
“Sometimes when you evolve as a person, you leave behind the things and the people that once felt most comfortable and familiar to you,” the band said in a statement regarding the project’s themes of personal growth and lost love.
Ahead of the Yonkers date, the group released two singles, “Heartbeat” and “Chemical Imbalance,” which establish the EP’s narrative of emotional push and pull.
The upcoming show at Simple Motive is one of several local collaborations for the band this month. To coincide with the EP’s release, the trio partnered with Brooklyn-based Endless Life Brewing to launch a limited-edition collaboration beer.
Following the Yonkers performance, the band is scheduled to conclude its current run of shows in Lindenhurst. “Not Quite You” is currently available for digital pre-save.
