The Bad Plus will bring its 2026 farewell tour to The Egg in Albany on June 23, offering Capital Region audiences one of their final chances to see the influential jazz ensemble live.
The performance is part of the band’s final North American run, which concludes a 26-year career marked by bold experimentation and genre-defying musicianship. The current lineup features founding bassist Reid Anderson and drummer Dave King, joined by guitarist Ben Monder and saxophonist Chris Speed.
After more than a quarter-century of recording and touring in multiple iterations, Anderson and King announced that 2026 will mark the end of The Bad Plus.
“The Bad Plus has been a band for 26 years,” the pair said in a joint statement. “As we enter into year 27 — after a great deal of soul searching and consideration — we have decided to bring this chapter to a close.”
Since forming in 2000, The Bad Plus has earned international acclaim for its inventive originals and reinterpretations that fused jazz improvisation with elements of rock and contemporary music.
The June 23 performance at The Egg is one of the final stops before the tour concludes later in the month.
