Kaatsbaan Cultural Park has announced audition dates for its 2026 Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive (KBI), a nationally recognized summer training program for pre-professional dancers ages 13–18. Auditions will be held Jan. 16–18, 2026, in New York City and Tivoli.

In-person auditions are scheduled for Jan. 16–17 at Gibney Studios, 890 Broadway, in Studio 5-2. An additional audition will take place Jan. 18 from 12–1:30 p.m. at Kaatsbaan, located at 120 Broadway in Tivoli. Registration is required for all locations.

The eight-week Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive will run June 22–Aug. 15, 2026, and is divided into four sessions: June 22–July 4, July 6–18, July 20–Aug. 1 and Aug. 3–15. The program is designed to strengthen technique, develop artistry and provide professional-level exposure to classical and contemporary repertoire, with the goal of preparing dancers for careers in the performing arts.

Auditions will be led by Kaatsbaan Artistic Director Paloma Herrera, with Kaatsbaan co-founders and faculty members Kevin McKenzie and Martine van Hamel in attendance. Each audition will last 90 minutes. Participants are asked to arrive early for check-in; parents will not be permitted to wait inside the building. Dress requirements include a solid-color leotard, pink tights, and flat and pointe shoes for girls, and black tights with a white shirt for boys.

Kaatsbaan’s 153-acre campus in the Hudson Valley provides boarding and day-student options, along with access to professional studios featuring sprung floors, full-length mirrors, natural light and scenic surroundings. Program organizers emphasize the opportunity for dancers to train alongside peers, choreographers and visiting artists while building professional relationships.

Eligible dancers must be 13–18 during the session they attend, be available for the entire session, be fully immunized according to New York State school requirements, and have at least two years of pointe training. Students are also urged to be up to date on COVID-19 immunization per CDC guidelines.
