Arts and housing nonprofit Safe Harbors of the Hudson is proud to announce that tickets are now on sale for its inaugural Newburgh Fringe Festival, a weekend-long celebration of performing arts in the Hudson Valley. Taking place October 24-26, 2025, the festival boasts 36 productions with over 70 performances presented at multiple Downtown Newburgh venues, including Safe Harbors’ own newly re-opened Ritz Theater Stagehouse, Lobby at the Ritz, and Safe Harbors Green, as well as neighboring ADS Warehouse and The Wherehouse.
The Newburgh Fringe Festival (NFF) is dedicated to showcasing the vibrant and diverse performing arts community of the Hudson Valley. This three-day event will feature an eclectic mix of original theater, reimagined classics, debut performances, short-form works, improv solo acts, puppetry, magic shows, music, dance, storytelling and more—embracing the original, immersive, and experimental. Back by popular demand, Uncanny Valley Puppet Slam, Safe Harbors’ puppetry cabaret for grown-ups, will also be part of the festival lineup.
“The Newburgh Fringe Festival is a celebration of bold artistic expression,” said Ken Martinez, Safe Harbors’ Director of Performing Arts & Community Programming. “We’re proud to foster a space where emerging and established performers alike can share work that challenges, inspires, and connects—bringing fresh energy to Newburgh’s cultural and creative landscape.”
Participating artists and ensembles performing in the Newburgh Fringe Festival include: Neil Alexander, Gloria Bonelli, Peter A. Campbell, Darline Corchado & Christine Chen, Darlene Costello, Dan Daly, Ellen Donnelly, Jess Ducey, Paul Ellis, Carrie Gibson, Ian Gillis & Sean Landolt, Hudson Valley Improv, Hudsons and Daughters, Jennifer Justice, Doug Keller, Rachel Landolt, Liberty Street Writers, LotuZ, Dov Manley, Catherine Meringolo, Donna Minkowitz, Neech the Magician, William T. Odell & Stehen D’Ambrosio, OUTNewburgh-Beacon, Blake Pfeil, Carli Rhoades, Patricia Santos, Brad Shur, Space Bar Improv, Ted Swindley & Gerald vanHeerden, TÉA Artistry, Kyle Turgeon, Margaret Milan Wright, and more.
The festival also includes three participatory performing arts workshops, each offered in the morning on Saturday, October 25, ranging from playwriting, puppetry, and creative insights and expression.
Tickets are $12 for all performances, and can be purchased in advance at safe-harbors.org or at the door for any performance.
Newburgh Fringe Festival is presented by Safe Harbors of the Hudson in partnership with Hit House Creative, and produced by Newburgh Fringe founding members Ken Martinez, Gloria Bonelli, Shane Killoran, John Hartzell, and Patricia A. Cornwell.
Safe Harbors’ Performing Arts & Community Programming is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Uncanny Valley Puppet Slam is supported, in part, by the Puppet Slam Network.
